When Lucy and Maria Aylmer tell people they are twins, disbelief is one response.

The 18-year-olds from Gloucester, U.K. are two of the five children born to their Caucasian father and "half-Jamaican" mother, World Wide Features reports. While their other siblings have a blend of features from their parents, Lucy and Maria are opposites: Lucy has fair skin and red hair, while Maria has caramel skin and dark hair.

Call it a triumph of modern medicine, times two.

Doctors at the Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston successfully separated a pair of 10-month-old conjoined girls through a breathtaking 26-hour procedure that involved at least six types of physicians.

The hospital announced that doctors had completed the detachment of Knatalye Hope and Adeline Faith Mata from one another’s chest and abdomen on Sunday night, KHOU-TV reported.
